Sam Stiegler
Dr. Sam Stiegler has two decades of experience working on LGBTQ issues in education. His research and teaching lie at the intersections of educational foundations, critical youth studies, queer and trans studies in education, sexuality studies, and critical qualitative research methodologies. He is the author of the newly published book Going Along with Trans, Queer, and Non-Binary Youth (SUNY Press). Additionally, his work has been published in a number of journals, including Curriculum Inquiry, Qualitative Inquiry, Equity & Excellence in Education, Journal of LGBT Youth, and The Journal of Homosexuality.
He is currently a McKenzie Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne. He has also served as a Hunt-Simes Visiting Junior Chair of Sexuality Studies in the Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre at the University of Sydney and has held academic appointments at Colgate University and Wesleyan University. He earned his PhD in Curriculum Studies from Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia where he held the Vanier Canada Graduate Fellowship. He previously worked at the Hetrick-Martin Institute in New York City, the largest and oldest LGBTQ youth-service organization in the United States.
