Britta Breser 

 

As a Professor of Democracy Education at the University of Vienna [https://lehrerinnenbildung.univie.ac.at/arbeitsbereiche/didaktik-der-politischen-bildung/team/breser-britta/], and a lecturer in civic education and social science didactics at the University of Graz [https://online.uni-graz.at/kfu_online/wbforschungsportal.cbshowportal?pPersonNr=105441], Brit Breser focuses on understandings of political processes, the role of citizens in a democracy, and the formation of democratic articulations. One of her research areas concerns young people and their diverse spatial experiences, among others in the context of comparisons between urban and rural areas.

 

She has broad experience in teacher education and in the professionalization of civic education processes at various universities and university colleges in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, Israel, and Norway. Most recently, she led a research project on conceptions of Europe and transnational democracy among student teachers in Austria.

 

She is also a founding member of the Forum of Democracy Research [https://forum-demokratie.uni-graz.at/de/] at the University of Graz and works as a research affiliate at the Network for Interdisciplinary Values Research [https://www.werteforschung.at/] at the University of Vienna.

 

She completed her studies in history, political science, journalism, and European studies at the Universities of Graz and Krems (Austria), the renowned University Sciences Po in Paris (France), the Université de Montréal (Québec, Canada), and Andrássy University in Budapest (Hungary).

 

Previously, she worked, among others, at the European Commission in Brussels (Belgium) and the Austrian Society for European Politics in Vienna (Austria).
